City of Florence City Clerk

The City Clerk oversees city elections, provides assistance in obtaining business licenses, performs record keeping functions related to City Council meetings, maintains copies of municipal resolutions and ordinances, issues yard sale permits, and provides services to the citizens of Florence, elected officials, and other City Departments.

Election Information:

To have an Absentee Ballot mailed to you, please contact the City Clerk's office at (256) 760-6682.

Also, the Absentee Ballots can be picked up at the City Clerk's office in the Municipal Building located at 110 West College Street, Room 116 on the First Floor from 8 AM to 5 PM. 

Alcohol/Beverage Application Process

This form must be completed in entirety and returned to the City Clerk's Office. Obtaining an alcoholic beverage license can take 3-4 weeks.  Procedures to acquire an alcoholic beverage license are listed below.

1.    Apply with the ABC Office for State Alcoholic Beverage License

2.     Apply with the City of Florence for Alcohol Beverage License - $25.00 Processing Fee

3.     Application must be approved by City Council

4.     Resolution sent to ABC Board by City Clerk's Office

5.     Purchase ABC License after ABC Board Approval

6.     Purchase City of Florence Alcoholic Beverage License and provide a copy of ABC License

7.     5% liquor tax due each month to the City of Florence on liquor sales (beer and wine sales exempt)
