RED MAPLE
The
Red Maple (Acer rubrum) is commonly used to line
driveways or boulevards to provide an unbelievable display
of fall color. A Red Maple is a good landscape tree having a
fast growth rate requiring only minimal attention. The
canopy has an oval shape and grows to 40 feet tall at
maturity providing dense shade. Its leaves drop later in
the autumn so you have more time to enjoy its foliage, when
other trees are bare.
BALD CYPRESS
The
Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) is a unique needle
leafed tree. While most needle leafed trees are evergreen
the bald cypress is deciduous, losing its needles in winter.
It soft, light green needles emerge in spring signaling anew
growing season. The silhouette in winter is a symmetrical
pyramid of limbs.
The Bald
Cypress grows in the swamps of the south and is at home
submerged in water. Being versatile, this cypress is also
successful in drier sites. The bald cypress is a moderately
large single trunk tree growing to 70 feet tall and 30 feet
wide.

SHUMARD OAK
The
Shumard Oak (Quercus Shumardii) is one of the largest
species in the southern red oak group. This oak has a high,
open branch habit with bright green leaves. It is a fast
growing, long lived tree with a mature height of 80 feet
tall and 60 feet wide. It grows in most any type of soil and
makes a great shade tree.
The wood
is a commercially available product used for cabinets,
floors, and furniture. It is a strong tree with a lot of
characteristics of our city, strong, useful and beauty.
