Many law enforcement officers and scientists now feel the foundation for violence has been overlooked for too long. Without a doubt there is a link between animal cruelty and violence against people. Remember this, "those who abuse animals will one day abuse people".

First, we must establish act of cruelty. "A person commits the crime of cruelty to a dog or cat if he or she intentionally tortures, skins, cruelly beats, injures without cause, mutilates, or deprives of necessary sustenance or shelter (four sided structure)." Sustenance shall include fresh water, food daily, free of insects and pests, and medical care.

Every killer who went inside a school and killed another student started with animals. Most cruelty begins before a child turns eight. This is one conduct disorder that can be corrected.
