We are
actively seeking loving, caring and
dedicated volunteers from our
community to provide daily pet care
and socialization to the shelter

We have a
volunteer group, SAViA Shelter
Animal Volunteers in Action, working
within our shelter to provide daily
pet care and socialization to the
shelter pets on a daily basis.
Our primary
duties are to enforce the City of
Florence Animal Control Ordinance.
This entails the impoundment of dogs
running at large within the city
limits of Florence and issuing
warnings and citations to owners of
dogs who are violating the
ordinance. Duties also include
impounding and transporting various
types of animals to the animal
shelter. These include unwanted,
stray, sick, diseased, injured and
vicious animals. Duties may also
require assisting the Health
Department with the investigation of
animal bites. Responsible for
enforcing animal cruelty laws in the
city and educating the public about
animal welfare.
As the
winter approaches be sure and
remember the following:
1. Get your
pets a rabies shot
2. Have a good dog house and point
away from the west.
3. Protect your dog from heart
worms
4. Provide fresh water and plenty
of food
5. Consider wheat straw in their
house
6. Bring inside in extreme cold
7. I.D. your pets with a collar and
tags
