The City of Florence Solid Waste and Recycling Department provides residential and commercial garbage collection within the corporate city limits. Residential garbage collection is $12.00 per month for one day per week collection in carts provided by the City. Residential Recycling is also covered under this monthly fee.

The City owns and operates its own landfill located at 29485 Waterloo Road Savannah Highway (State Highway 20) in Florence. The landfill is open from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.

This Subtitle-D Lined Municipal Solid Waste Landfill is permitted to accept non hazardous, non-infectious putrescible and non-putrescible wastes, including household wastes, approved industrial wastes, septic tank pumpings, sludge, dead animals, asbestos, foundry sand, petroleum contaminated waste or soil, municipal solid waste ash, and other similar type wastes.
